Cork City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Aidan Dowling.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper joins the club after a short spell with Larne, having come through the academy at Blackburn Rovers.
Speaking to CorkCityFC.ie, Dowling said: “I am delighted to be here. I spoke to the gaffer a few weeks ago about the opportunity, and I was really excited about it. It is a big club in a good league and it seems like there is a really good group of lads here.”
“I’m a big physical keeper, I am 6 foot 5, so I like to try and be dominant, coming for crosses and, of course, keeping the ball out of the net!”
“People talk about Cork City as being one of the biggest clubs on this island, so I was really excited at the prospect of coming here. It is an opportunity for me to try and make an impression on this league and show people what I can do, so I can’t wait to get started.”
City boss Tim Clancy welcomed his latest recruit, saying: “We are very pleased to have Aidan on board now. He is a big lad and he has a good pedigree, so this is an opportunity for him now. We obviously got a deal done to bring Brad Wade on board before Christmas, and we wanted to ensure that we had two good goalkeepers at the club, who will push each other every day in training.”
