Cork City FC are delighted to announce that Charlie Lyons has signed a new two-year contract ahead of the 2025 Season.
The defender, who joined the club from Cobh Ramblers on a one-year deal ahead of the start of last season, made 33 league appearances in 2024, scoring 5 goals as City won the First Division title.
Speaking in Bishopstown this afternoon, Lyons said: “I’m delighted to be here. We had a very successful year this year, and being from Cork, I was delighted to pen a new deal. Working under Tim was brilliant. Himself and Jamie Hamill have been brilliant with me. They really put faith in me and I think I repaid that on the pitch.
“I think we can definitely compete next year. Bringing back the likes of Ruairí Keating and Seani Maguire.. they will definitely have a good partnership next season. I think we’ll definitely give it a good rattle.”
City boss Tim Clancy said: “We’re delighted to get Charlie tied down for the next two years. He played a very important role in the team this year, and was a massive factor in the brilliant defensive record that we had throughout the season.”
