Cork City FC are pleased to announce that Cian Murphy has signed a new contract with the club for the 2024 season.
The striker has made over 90 competitive appearances for the club since making his league debut in 2018, and, speaking to CorkCityFC.ie, he was clear what the aim is for 2024: “I’m delighted to have signed back with City for the 2024 season. I know it’s been said already, but myself and the other lads that came through the academy were really hurt after last season, and we know we have to put things right.”
“From speaking to Tim, we all know that our goal for the season is to win the league and get back to the Premier Division. My aim this year is to chip in with more goals and help us achieve that.”
Welcoming the news, City manager Tim Clancy said: “I am pleased to get Cian signed up for the 2024 season. He has been around the club for a number of years, he has played in this division before and he knows what is needed for the coming season. He is a strong, quick and powerful player, and he gives us another dimension in attacking areas. He is a very committed player and he works hard to bring other people into the game and to create space for them, and I have no doubt that he will work well with some of the other attacking players we have already brought in.”
