Nathan Wood joins City on loan!

Cork City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Nathan Wood, on loan from Newport County until the end of June, pending international clearance.

The attacker joined Newport in June 2023 after an outstanding season in the Welsh Premier League, which saw him notch 15 goals and 7 assists. He has featured in 12 League Two games for Newport this season, and also made a brief substitute appearance against Manchester United in the FA Cup last weekend.

Speaking to CorkCityFC.ie, the 26-year-old said: “This has all happened very quickly, but I am really looking forward to getting over to Cork and meeting up with my team mates. I have had a good chat with the manager about his plans for the season, and I am really excited by what he has had to say. I know it’s a big club with a really good fanbase, so I am looking forward to being part of it.”

City boss Tim Clancy welcomed news of the signing, saying: “I am pleased to be welcoming Nathan on board. He is an exciting, attacking player who will add to our options in forward areas. He will be a great addition to the squad and I cannot wait to get working with him.”
