It's a trip to Dalymount Park this weekend as Danny Murphy's City City FC Women's side face at Bohemian FC team who have started the season positively; surprising Wexford FC in the opening game of the season before losing narrowly to Athlone Town. They easily overcame Lisburn FC in their opening Avenir Sports All Island Cup game last weekend. Speaking ahead of the game Danny Murphy reflected on a positive result away to Wexford FC last weekend with goals from Dorothy Greulich and Colleen Kennedy O'Connor earning a deserved 2-2 draw away from home.
"The girls played really well. We showed how we can challenge and that we can compete with the better teams in the league. A lot of it comes down to self-belief going into the games, knowing that we can get results. They took on and implemented the tactical information before and during the game and for me I thought we were the better team, we played good football, were defensively organized, and the shape was excellent. The players we brought off the Bench helped to sustain the quality and standard, in the end I thought it was a really good all around performance."
"I think Orlaith's tackle in the first few minutes set the intensity for the rest of the game. We have players in competition all over the pitch now and we need to take that performance into next Saturday against bohemians. We need to take a step forward and stick to how we play and how we do things. If we lose games trying to do things our way then we're still building progression."
"Bohemians have had a great start to the season, signed really well, and have a lot of good experience players. They're going to be tough, Dalymount is a tough place to go, but we're going to go up and play our game to our strengths and plan to be the better team on the day. If we do that then we can continue to get positive results and progression. We'll just worry about ourselves."
