Cork City played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Bohemians at the Oscar Traynor Centre on Saturday in their latest SSE Airtricity Women’s National League match.
Bohemians got the early advantage when Erica Burke pounced onto a mix-up in the City defence to score from close range to give the hosts an early advantage. City started to come into the match as the half went on with Eabha O’Mahony having an effort from the edge of the box going just over the bar.
City equalised in the 25th minute when the ball fell to Lauren Egbuloniu in the box, after a scramble for it by Egbuloniu and the Bohemians defence Egbuloniu managed to get a touch to poke it home to make it 1-1. City continued to press with Eabha O’Mahony having a free kick on target saved by the Bohs goalkeeper.
City took the lead in the 36th minute with Sarah McKevitt sending a ball into the box from the left wing, Christina Dring managed to flick the ball on into the path of Lauren Egbuloniu who smartly finished from close range to give City a 2-1 advantage at half time.
City started the second half the stronger side nearly increasing their lead in the 47th minute when Becky Cassin had a header saved after a City corner. Eva Mangan also came close in the 60th minute but her effort was just wide. Bohs levelled the game in the 65th minute as Aoife Robinson finished off a good Bohemians move.
City however immediately retook the lead as Laura Shine took advantage of a Bohs goalkeeping mistake and hammered her effort into the top of the net. Bohemians however would level the game again in the 80th minute when they were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute. Chloe Darby stepped home and put it away to make it 3-3 which it ended up finishing.
City are next in action on Saturday 24th of April at Turner’s Cross as they host DLR Waves with a 2pm kick off in the SSE Airtricity Women’s National League.
