WNL: City 3-1 Treaty

Cork City finished their SSE Airtricity Women’s National League campaign with a 3-1 victory against Treaty United at Turner’s Cross on Saturday November 6th with goals from Becky Cassin, Sarah McKevitt and Laura Shine.

City started the game the stronger side with an early effort from Laura Shine in the 5th minute going just wide after she was set up by Becky Cassin. City took the lead in the 11th minute after Sarah McKevitt made a run from her own half into the visitors penalty area she was fouled and the referee awarded the penalty and Becky Cassin stepped up and put away the spot kick to give City a 1-0 lead.

City had the majority of the possession for much of the first half without really testing the Treaty goal again while Treaty remained dangerous on the counter and they took advantage in the 31st minute as Olivia Gibson crossed into the box and found the head of Jenna Slattery who powered it home from close range to make it 1-1 at half time.

City dominated possession and territory for the second half and came very close in the 65th minute with a corner hitting the crossbar. They eventually got the reward for their effort in the 75th minute as Sarah McKevitt scoring a spectacular free kick from distance to make it 2-1 to City.

City continued to dominate the game and got a third on the verge of full time as Laura Shine made a good run into the penalty area and put it away from close range giving City all three points as it finished 3-1 to Cork City.
