Terenure Rangers were the third team out of the hat in the Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup First Round draw at FAI Headquarters. Cork City FC Women face a trip to Dublin, specifically to Bushy Park, on the weekend of August 27th for Danny Murphy’s side, who is taking nothing for granted against the Eastern Women’s Football League team.
“It’s a really interesting draw and something we’re really looking forward to, we can’t wait to have the game. We’ll do our homework on Terenure Rangers and respect them, their league is a strong, competitive league, with some really big Women’s clubs in there. We’ve no doubt they’re going to be tough opposition, especially at home being cheered on by their own supporters.”
Speaking at the draw, Terenure Ranger’s Ruth Comerford, who won the Cup with Peamount United in 2010, was upbeat in her assessment “The fact that we have the home draw, and the standard we have at the minute, I think Cork (City) has something to watch out for because I think we’re going to bring it on the day. The underdogs are the ones to watch out for.”
