WPD Preview: Wexford vs City

WPD Preview: Wexford vs City
City return to SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division (WPD) action today with a trip to Ferrycarrig Park to face a Wexford FC side rejuvenated by a series of victories. The task is made tougher as it's been a long three weeks since City's last match, as a result of last weekend's prioritisation of the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup and the previous weekend's bye for Danny Murphy's side, who is "just looking forward to getting back to playing games as it feels like we've had a mini pre-season now and everyone is eager to just get back at it."
Bye weekend's will hopefully become a thing of the past next season with the hoped for addition of Waterford FC to the WPD, but the focus today is an hour further East in Wexford and a side who have won their last four games in all competitions after an indifferent start to the season.
City's most recent outing was a 1-0 loss to high-flying Athlone, a tight game which again demonstrates the strides City have made this season and Murphy wants to build on those improvements "It's a big second half of the season for us, if we want to achieve our targets which is staying in our current position and seeing if we can build. Wexford FC are in  a good run of form and have picked up some great results recently, but that was always going to happen as the season went on, with the quality of players that they have."
"We have to focus on ourselves, our consistency over the second half of the season and if we do that I think we can look forward to a positive time for the club. We do have a couple of injuries going into the weekend to manage which is just part and parcel of the game, so it won't impact how we approach the game and implement our game plan."
The game kicks off in Ferrycarrig Park at 6pm and is live on LOITV
