Cork City FC are pleased to confirm that John O’Donovan has signed a new contract with the club for the coming season.
The 19-year-old made his first team debut last season, having previously played for the club at academy level, and went on to make 15 league appearances.
Speaking to CorkCityFC.ie, O’Donovan commented: “I am really looking forward to the season ahead. Last year was a very disappointing one for the club, so we need to try and get the club back up. Being from Cork and having come through the academy, it really hurt the way last season went. We know how big of a club this is and we want to be back in the Premier Division. We have a good side, with some good players coming in, so hopefully we can bounce back and have a good season.”
“I have had a few chats with Tim and he knows what he wants. He has his ambitions for the season, so hopefully we can do what he wants us to do.”
“John is a good young player who has come through the academy at the club. He broke through into the first team last season and played quite a few games. It is a good opportunity for John to play a lot of games next season. I think he is in the right environment to develop and progress his career, whilst getting us back to where we want to be.”
