Cork City FC are pleased to announce that Darragh Crowley has signed a new contract with the club.
The 23-year-old made his first team debut for City in 2019, having come through the club’s academy, and has made over 75 appearances for City in that time.
Crowley had been among City’s most impressive performers last season until he suffered a serious knee injury just prior to the summer break, but he told CorkCityFC.ie that his recovery is going well: “It’s been very frustrating being out injured, especially the way last season went. Having been at the club so long, it really hurt to see the position the club found itself in, and I wish I had been able to be out on the pitch to try and help the lads.”
“My rehab is going very well and I am in the gym and out running several days a week now, so hopefully I will be able to start taking part in training during pre-season and work my way back to fitness early on in the season.”
“I have spoken to Tim and he is clear about what his plans are for next season, which is to get this club back where it belongs, and I hope that I can be a big part of that. For those of us who were here last year, we want to put things right.”
Commenting on the news, Cork City manager Tim Clancy said: “I am very pleased to have Darragh back on board for next season. He obviously suffered a nasty injury up in United Park in the summer, and he is a few months away yet, but he is working tirelessly to get himself back fit and he will be a big addition to the squad when he is fully fit.”
