Cork City FC are delighted to announce that Mailk Dijksteel has signed a new contract with the club.
The 22-year-old Dutch attacker joined the club in August, and he has now extended his stay on Leeside for the 2024 season.
Dijksteel, who scored his first goal for the club with a cracking strike against Wexford in the FAI Cup, told CorkCityFC.ie that he was looking forward to coming back to Leeside: “The ending to the season was very hard to take, and I was gutted to miss out on the final game with injury, so I am really looking forward to getting back to Cork for pre-season. Those of us who were there last year all want to put things right next year.”
“I have spoken to the manager and I have been impressed with what he had to say. He is aiming to get the club promoted back to the Premier Division and that is an aim that I share. The fans were brilliant last season, so I am looking forward to playing in front of them again, and hopefully we can give them a lot to shout about in 2024.”
City boss Tim Clancy welcomed the latest addition to his squad for 2024, saying: “Malik obviously came in halfway through last season, and showed glimpses of what he is capable of. He needs a good pre-season if we are to see the best of him. It is a great opportunity for Malik and for us as well. When he is fully fit, he has really good attributes and I think he will be one to look out for next season.”
