Preview: City vs Treaty United

Cork City are back at home in Turner's Cross on Friday night as they take on Treaty United in what promises to be a very exciting Munster Derby.

The previous encounter between the sides back in March ended in a 0-0 deadlock in Markets Field in a fiery game which included eight yellow cards and a red card.

In terms of team form coming into the fixture, City look to be the major favourites as a sixteen game unbeaten streak leaves City top of the table by ten points.

Treaty United on the other hand, have been slipping down the table in recent weeks, and are thirteen games without a win, with their narrow 1-0 win over Kerry FC on the 1st of March being their last victory.

City have no suspensions or new injury concerns to worry about, but manager Tim Clancy confirmed John O’Donovan, Matthew Kiernan and Malik Dijksteel will remain unavailable.

On a much brighter note though, City fans will be delighted to hear Jack Doherty will be available for Friday’s Derby.

Speaking at his weekly press conference in Bishopstown, Clancy reflected on the previous matchup between the sides: “I think the game back in March was a game we were missing thirteen players for, and I thought we done very well that day considering the amount of players we had out and the start [of the season] Treaty had”

“I think we are in a different place now at the minute, we’re confident, and there is plenty of goals in the team, so we want to try add to that on Friday”

The game will be refereed by Oliver Moran, and he will be assisted by Darren Casey and Jonathan Hennessy. Daryl Carolan will be the fourth official.
